Quetta, May 11, 2026 — The human rights wing of the Baloch National Movement, PAANK, has raised fresh allegations of enforced disappearances across Balochistan, naming several civilians it says were taken by state security personnel.
In posts on X, PAANK said it strongly condemns the alleged abduction of 35-year-old shopkeeper Khalid Aktar from Apsor in Turbat’s Kech district. The group says Aktar was taken on April 25 from Jusak by personnel it links to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Military Intelligence.
PAANK also highlighted the case of 15-year-old student Saeed Baloch of Quetta, who the group alleges was forcibly removed from his home in Killi Almas near Airport Road during a late-night raid on May 6 allegedly carried out by Frontier Corps personnel. PAANK described the incident as a grave violation of human rights and international law and expressed particular alarm that a minor is missing.
Another named case is Khadija Peer Jan, who PAANK says has been missing for 17 days after an alleged abduction on April 21. The organisation reports that her family — including a young daughter and an elderly mother — has been publicly protesting with her photographs and demanding her safe return.
PAANK has urged Pakistani authorities to immediately disclose the whereabouts of the missing, release them unharmed, and hold those responsible to account, stressing that “no one should be made to disappear.”
Enforced disappearances have long been a contentious issue in Balochistan. Activists, students, political workers and ordinary civilians have repeatedly been reported missing following alleged detention by security agencies. Human rights groups and Baloch organisations accuse state actors of using disappearances to silence dissent and nationalist voices; Pakistani authorities have frequently denied involvement. Families of the missing continue to press their demands through marches, sit-ins and other protests, drawing concern from international human rights organisations and observers.
