Security officials said Wednesday that the Pakistan Army killed Qahraman, a commander of Tehreek-e-Taliban Afghanistan (TTA), along with several associates during an operation near the Torkham border crossing in northwest Pakistan. The operation occurred late last night as Qahraman and his group were reportedly attempting to approach the border and were intercepted by security forces.
Officials said troops engaged the group with artillery fire, effectively targeting and neutralising the militants. Qahraman and several of his accomplices were killed during the exchange, the sources added.
Torkham is a major crossing between Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province. Qahraman was described as a resident of the Afghan side of Torkham, in the area adjacent to Jalalabad.
Authorities have not released further details about arrests, weapons recovered or follow-up operations. Officials said the action was part of ongoing efforts to prevent cross-border militant movements.
