The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for a series of coordinated attacks on Pakistani security forces and alleged state-backed armed groups in several parts of Balochistan, local media reported.
BLF spokesman Gwahram Baloch told The Balochistan Post that fighters carried out operations in Awaran, Jhao and the Parom area of Panjgur. The group said the actions left two military personnel and two alleged members of a so-called ‘death squad’ dead, with several others wounded.
According to the BLF, on December 6its fighters on routine patrol in Parom were chased by armed men the group described as a state-backed militia. The BLF said its members took defensive positions, ambushed the pursuers, destroyed a vehicle and killed two occupants. The group added that the remaining men fled and that a military unit later recovered the bodies and the damaged vehicle.
On December 7, the BLF said its fighters carried out a sniper attack on a Frontier Corps (FC) checkpoint in the Teertaj Jak mountain area of Awaran, killing one FC soldier. The group alleged security forces attempted a countermeasure using a quadcopter drone, which the BLF said was shot down.
The BLF also claimed a separate sniper strike the same day on a military checkpoint in Doliji, Jhao, which it said killed another soldier; security forces reportedly responded with mortar fire in that area.
The group paid tribute to Sajid Baloch, known as Kaka Rahmat, saying he died on December 1 from a poisonous insect bite while performing organisational duties. The BLF said he joined in 2013, initially served on the urban front and moved to mountain operations in 2014, taking on both organisational and operational roles.
