Balochistan [Pakistan], December 9 (ANI): The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for multiple attacks on Pakistani security personnel and alleged state-backed armed groups across several areas of Balochistan, according to The Balochistan Post (TBP).
Gwahram Baloch, a BLF spokesperson, said the group’s fighters carried out coordinated operations in Awaran, Jhao and the Parom area of Panjgur, asserting the actions resulted in the deaths of two military personnel and two alleged members of a “death squad,” with several others wounded, TBP reported.
The BLF said that on December 6 its fighters were on routine patrol in Parom when they were pursued by armed men the group described as part of a state-backed militia. The fighters purportedly took defensive positions and ambushed the pursuers, destroying one vehicle and killing two occupants. The BLF added that the remaining armed men fled and that a military unit later removed the bodies and the damaged vehicle.
The group also claimed that on December 7 its fighters carried out a sniper attack on a Frontier Corps (FC) checkpoint in the Teertaj Jak mountain area of Awaran, killing one FC soldier. The BLF alleged security forces attempted to retaliate using a quadcopter drone, which the group says it shot down, per TBP.
In a separate incident the same day, the BLF said a sniper attack on a military checkpoint in Doliji, Jhao, killed another soldier, and that security forces responded with mortar fire in the area.
The BLF also paid tribute to Sajid Baloch, known as Kaka Rahmat, whom the group said died on December 1 from a poisonous insect bite while carrying out organisational duties. The group described him as a long-standing member who joined in 2013, initially worked in the “urban front” and moved to mountainous operations in 2014, participating in organisational and operational roles over the years, TBP reported.
