Namangan [Uzbekistan], April 24 (ANI): The 7th edition of the India-Uzbekistan joint military exercise, Dustlik, concluded Friday at the Gurumsaray Field Training Area in Namangan, the Indian Army said.
In a post on X, the Indian Army said the exercise ended with a final validation exercise and a closing ceremony at Gurumsaray. It said the drills enhanced preparedness for joint operations to neutralise unlawful armed groups, offered opportunities to exchange counter-terrorism best practices, reinforced military cooperation and improved interoperability between the Indian Army and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Indian contingent departed on April 12 for the exercise. The Indian Armed Forces team comprised about 60 personnel — 45 from the Indian Army, primarily from a battalion of the MAHAR Regiment, and 15 from the Indian Air Force. The Uzbekistan contingent was also approximately 60 personnel drawn from the Uzbekistan Army and Air Force, the Ministry of Defence said.
Exercise Dustlik aims to strengthen military cooperation and build combined capabilities for joint operations in semi-mountainous terrain. Training emphasized physical fitness, joint planning, joint tactical drills and special arms skills, and established a unified operational algorithm between the command-and-control structures of both contingents.
Key activities practised included land navigation, strike missions against enemy bases and seizure of enemy-held areas. The Indian contingent familiarised itself with Uzbekistan’s operational procedures and shared its own experience. The joint training culminated in a 48-hour validation exercise to test tactical drills for joint operations, focusing on preparation and execution of joint special operations to neutralise unlawful armed groups, the statement added.
