Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], February 7 (ANI): US Ambassador Sergio Gor arrived in Mumbai on Saturday to cheer for Team USA at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Posting on X, he wrote: “Just landed in Mumbai for the T20WorldCup game! Big day for team @usacricket Go Team USA 🇺🇸.”
Ahead of India’s opening match against the USA at Wankhede Stadium, Indian cricketers Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy, along with members of the support staff, visited the Shri Siddhivinayak Ganpati Temple in Mumbai. Members of the Indian team also offered prayers; India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, will be defending their T20 World Cup title in the 2026 edition.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup begins on February 7 and runs until March 8. The tournament’s first match sees Pakistan take on the Netherlands at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. The USA, placed in Group A, start their campaign against India at Wankhede Stadium on February 7. In the previous edition, the USA made a strong debut by reaching the Super Eight, defeating Pakistan and producing close contests with India and South Africa—nearly chasing 195 set by South Africa in the Super Eight but finishing 18 runs short.
