The UK government reiterated its long-standing policy that Kashmir is an issue for India and Pakistan to resolve, guided by the wishes of Kashmiris, during a Westminster Hall debate in the Houses of Parliament this week.
Hamish Falconer, a minister at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), set out the official position during the debate titled “Kashmir: Self-determination”, which was secured by backbench Labour MP Imran Hussain, who is of Pakistani heritage.
