Abu Dhabi [UAE], December 7 (ANI/WAM): The BRIDGE Summit begins tomorrow in Abu Dhabi, focusing on boosting innovation and developing new tools for content creation.
The summit is organised by BRIDGE Alliance, an international body headquartered in the UAE that promotes greater inclusivity, diversity and impact across media, content and entertainment. The Alliance brings together a board of former heads of state, global leaders, policymakers and CEOs from media, communications, technology, finance and the creative industries to build a collaborative, future-ready content ecosystem.
Operating as an independent, purpose-driven organisation, BRIDGE Alliance seeks to deliver positive global impact by fostering an interconnected, resilient and ethically grounded framework for media and entertainment, guided by cooperation and responsibility.
The event coincides with the UAE’s ongoing efforts to modernise its media sector and boost competitiveness and global appeal. This year the UAE introduced an Advertiser Permit for individuals who publish promotional content on social media. The permit is part of an integrated regulatory framework designed to adapt to rapid industry changes, improve content quality, attract investment and draw skilled creative talent.
The permit aims to protect the rights of society and creators by establishing clear rules for advertising activity, promoting transparency and professionalism, and strengthening the UAE’s position as a hub for advertising content production.
Complementing this, the Cabinet issued a resolution on Administrative Violations and Penalties Regulation related to Media Regulation, establishing a framework to encourage responsible media practices in line with national law.
The UAE media sector showed steady growth in the first half of 2025. The UAE Media Council issued 2,562 media licences and permits, including 2,152 media licences, 235 digital media licences for social media, 103 filming permits and 72 licences for newspapers and magazines, reflecting a rapidly expanding media business environment.
In publishing, the Council processed more than 514,000 book titles and issued 35,000 distribution permits for the local market, while blocking 32 titles deemed inconsistent with national values or legislation.
In cinema, the Council approved 611 films for screening in the first half of 2025; total ticket sales exceeded 6 million, generating over AED 309 million in revenue. The Council also authorised distribution of 131 electronic games nationwide.
The UAE is emerging as a major global media centre by combining flexible regulation, advanced digital infrastructure and contributions to constructive content creation and media empowerment, serving as a model of innovative, high-quality media governance. (ANI/WAM)
