Moscow, March 2, 2026 — The TV BRICS International Media Network hosted a telebridge under the theme “Russian Winter in Literary Texts” for Indian students, with the central studio set up at the IM Rudomino All-Russia State Library for Foreign Literature in Moscow.
Students from 14 Indian universities took part, representing 13 cities across nine states, including Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad and Kolhapur, as well as institutions from Gujarat, West Bengal, Kerala and other regions. An Indian postgraduate student currently studying at the State University of Education in Moscow also joined the session.
The event was organised under TV BRICS’ “Modern Russian” project in partnership with the Indian Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature (INDAPRYAL) and Russian House in New Delhi. Tamara Skok, Director of the Department of Innovative Linguistic Projects at TV BRICS and head of the “Modern Russian” project, noted long-standing cooperation between Russian studies experts in India and TV BRICS, and said each telebridge aims to move academic discussion beyond stereotypes and broaden students’ linguistic horizons. This edition highlighted the dual character of Russian winter — its poetic beauty and harshness — and its role in cultural identity and traditional celebrations.
Participants discussed works by Alexander Pushkin, Leo Tolstoy and Nikolai Gogol, focusing on literary depictions of blizzards and the etymological links between Russian terms for blizzard, rebellion and confusion. The programme included talks on winter proverbs, screenings of film excerpts such as Anna Karenina, and conversations about traditional holidays including Svyatki, Christmas and Epiphany. The session concluded with creative activities: students recited poetry and performed songs related to winter and the New Year. The telebridge marked the ninth edition of the “Modern Russian” international educational series. (ANI)
