Kabul [Afghanistan], December 5 (ANI): India has delivered 63,734 doses of Influenza and Meningitis vaccines to Afghanistan to address urgent health needs, the Ministry of External Affairs said.
MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal posted on X that the shipment reaffirms India’s commitment to supporting Afghanistan’s public health. Last week, India also sent 73 tonnes of life-saving medicines, vaccines and essential supplements to Kabul to meet pressing medical requirements, Jaiswal added.
On November 3, India provided food items for families affected by the earthquake in northern Afghanistan, with images of the aid shared by the MEA. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar spoke with Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi to convey condolences after the quake that struck Balkh, Samangan and Baghlan provinces. Jaishankar said Indian relief material is being distributed and further supplies of medicines will arrive soon.
The earthquake, measuring 6.3, struck near Mazar-i-Sharif in the early hours, killing at least 20 people and injuring over 300. Jaishankar also noted progress in bilateral relations, welcomed improving people-to-people contacts between India and Afghanistan, and appreciated exchanges on the regional situation. (ANI)
