A decades-old mystery has reached a stunning resolution in Gila County, Arizona, where the Gila County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that Christina Maria Plante, who vanished without a trace at age 13 on May 15, 1994, has been located alive. Plante disappeared after leaving her Star Valley home to walk to a nearby horse stable.
Initially classified as an “endangered” disappearance under “suspicious circumstances,” the case went cold despite exhaustive ground searches, interviews and national database entries.
The breakthrough came recently when the Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Unit applied modern investigative techniques and advances in technology to develop new leads that had remained elusive for more than three decades.
Now believed to be about 44 or 45 years old, Plante’s identity has been officially confirmed and her missing-person status resolved.
Out of respect for her desire for privacy, the Sheriff’s Office said it would not release further details about her whereabouts or the specific circumstances of her disappearance.
