Balochistan [Pakistan], April 28 (ANI): A protest sit-in demanding the release of Khadija Baloch entered its sixth day outside Bolan Medical Complex (BMC) in Quetta, The Balochistan Post reported.
Protesters said no meaningful progress has been made despite nearly a week of demonstrations, accusing local authorities of failing to take concrete action. According to Khadija’s fellow students, Pakistani law enforcement personnel seized her during a raid on the girls’ hostel at Bolan Medical College.
Demonstrators alleged officials have used negotiations as a tool for pressure and intimidation rather than genuinely resolving the case. As part of an awareness campaign linked to the sit-in, pamphlets were reportedly distributed across Quetta, including near BMC Hospital, Brewery Road, and Isa Nagri.
Organisers said the outreach aimed to highlight what they described as state repression, enforced disappearances, and the detention of Baloch citizens—particularly women. The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), which has backed the protest, said authorities have remained silent and have not taken practical steps to secure Khadija’s safe release.
BYC added that Khadija’s family has remained resolute during the six-day protest despite intense emotional and psychological hardship. Protesters demanded an immediate end to enforced disappearances and called for transparent handling of such cases to ensure justice for affected families.
Enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in Balochistan remain a major human rights concern. Families often spend years searching for missing relatives, while activists accuse security forces of illegal detentions and staged encounters. Despite repeated demonstrations and reports from human rights organisations, accountability is scarce. These unresolved cases continue to fuel fear, anger, and profound mistrust between the state and the Baloch community. (ANI)
