Tehran [Iran], April 30 (ANI): Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Thursday that the Persian Gulf is not a place for enforcing foreign agendas, taking aim at the United States amid tensions over the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking on Persian Gulf National Day, Pezeshkian warned that any attempt to impose a blockade or maritime restrictions on Iran is bound to fail. In a post on X he wrote: “Persian Gulf- Not a Theater for Imposing Foreign Wills; Strait of Hormuz- Symbol of National Sovereignty and Iran’s Role in Regional Security; Iran Is the Guardian of the Security of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz; Any Effort to Impose a Maritime Blockade on Iran Is Doomed to Failure.”
He praised the bravery of Iran’s naval forces as evidence of the country’s decisive role in safeguarding regional security and critical energy shipping lanes. Pezeshkian also said that adversaries have shifted pressure to economic and maritime domains, calling any naval blockade or restrictions on Iran’s maritime trade contrary to international law. He warned that the United States and the “Zionist regime” would be held responsible for any insecurity in the Persian Gulf.
On April 26, Pezeshkian asserted that Iran would not negotiate under pressure, threats, or siege, according to Mehr News Agency. He accused Washington’s maritime restrictions of breaching ceasefire understandings and the UN Charter, saying such measures and threatening rhetoric have undermined confidence in the US commitment to diplomacy.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said earlier that the Trump administration has shifted from “managing the world’s energy” to a strategy of “disruption,” alleging a maritime blockade was part of a broader effort to contain China, Russia, and Europe. In a post on X the IRGC added that after about 20 days the White House assessment is showing the project has failed and that Tehran has become the center of a “coalition against disruption.”
