Snow and freezing rain hit Berlin’s airport on Thursday morning, forcing airlines to delay or cancel multiple departing flights. The airport said on its website that no takeoffs were taking place due to the weather and urged passengers to check their flight status with airlines.
Regional public broadcaster RBB reported jets could not be de-iced because rain quickly turned to ice. At 10:15 am (0915 GMT), flight-tracking website Flightradar24 showed there were still no flights taking off.
Fresh snow and freezing rain fell during the night and into the morning across eastern Germany, also disrupting roads and rail traffic.
