Moscow [Russia], March 19 (ANI): Moscow will host the second international conference, “Russia and India: Towards a New Agenda for Bilateral Relations,” on March 23, bringing together senior diplomats, policymakers and experts from both countries to bolster strategic cooperation.
The opening will be led by Sergey Lavrov and Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, underscoring the priority both countries place on deepening ties. Key attendees include Igor Ivanov, Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov and India’s Charge d’Affaires in Russia Nikhilesh Giri, according to TV BRICS.
Organised by the Russian International Affairs Council in partnership with the Embassy of India in Russia, the conference will address topics such as the roles of Russia and India in shaping a multipolar world, engagement with third countries and expanding economic cooperation, TV BRICS reported.
Bilateral trade surged to a record 68.7 billion US dollars in the 2024-2025 financial year, and both sides aim to raise trade to 100 billion US dollars by 2030, a target agreed by Vladimir Putin and Narendra Modi.
Connectivity projects will be prominently discussed, including the International North-South Transport Corridor, the Chennai-Vladivostok maritime route and the Northern Sea Route, all intended to improve logistics and trade efficiency.
Delegates will also explore cooperation in agriculture, culture, education and labour mobility. The number of Indian students in Russia increased by 35 percent in 2024, highlighting stronger people-to-people links.
Easing visa rules to promote tourism and workforce exchange is expected to be on the agenda. The conference will end with policy recommendations to guide future collaboration between the two nations. (ANI)
