New Delhi, April 23 — The Ministry of External Affairs said on Thursday it had “seen some reports” about U.S. President Donald Trump resharing a video that described India and China in derogatory terms, and declined to offer further comment.
At a weekly media briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said: “We’ve seen some reports. That’s where I’ll leave it.”
The remarks came after Trump reposted a clip on Truth Social featuring right‑wing author and radio host Michael Savage. In the segment, Savage criticizes birthright citizenship, arguing that existing immigration rules can be exploited by people who travel to the United States late in pregnancy to secure citizenship for their children. He called it a loophole that permits “a baby here becomes an instant citizen,” and suggested this could be followed by family migration from countries including “China or India or some other hellhole on the planet.”
The footage originally aired on the Newsmax series The Savage Nation and was shared via an account that reposts the President’s social media activity.
In the clip, Savage also expressed frustration with Supreme Court discussions on birthright citizenship, saying they focused on legal technicalities. He attacked groups such as the American Civil Liberties Union, accusing them of promoting large‑scale illegal immigration to alter America’s demographics — calling the ACLU “the head of the snake” — and argued the issue should be decided by public vote rather than only by legal interpretation.
