Washington, DC, March 2 — United States Central Command (CENTCOM) says three US F-15E Strike Eagles were “mistakenly shot down” by Kuwaiti air defence during combat operations on Sunday. CENTCOM said the aircraft were engaged in error and confirmed all six aircrew ejected safely, were recovered, and are in stable condition. Kuwait has acknowledged the incident and is cooperating; the cause is under investigation and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
Separately, Qatar’s Defence Ministry reported two drones struck energy facilities in the industrial city of Ras Laffan, with no casualties reported. The ministry said one drone hit a water tank at a Mesaieed power plant and the other targeted a Qatar Energy facility in Ras Laffan Industrial City. Authorities will assess damages and losses and issue an official statement later.
Both incidents come amid heightened regional tensions following a full-scale conflict that erupted in the Middle East after a major military offensive on February 28. In a coordinated operation called Operation Epic Fury/Roaring Lion, US and Israeli forces carried out large-scale air and missile strikes across Iran targeting military sites, nuclear-related infrastructure, missile batteries, and leadership compounds.
