Jamshoro [Pakistan] December 8 (ANI): The Jeay Sindh Freedom Movement (JSFM) organised a large, orderly cultural rally in Jamshoro, led by District President Saeed Tiyoono, Khan Sindhi, Sarmad Ali Qureshi, Majid Sindhi and other party members, to mark Sindhi Unity and Cultural Day.
The procession began at Sindh University Colony, passed the District Press Club and Jamshoro Colony, and ended on the bank of the Indus River, where participants sang the national anthem. The gathering aimed to peacefully protest for the recovery of forcibly disappeared activists and to press for the liberation of Sindhudesh.
Rally-goers carried banners, placards and posters bearing images of disappeared political activists. Dressed in traditional Sindhi ajrak and Sindhi caps and waving Sindhudesh flags, they marched through neighbourhoods and main thoroughfares of Jamshoro, chanting firm but peaceful slogans including: “Your land, my land, Sindhudesh, Sindhudesh.”
A joint statement from JSFM central leadership — Chairman Sohail Abro, Vice Chairman Zubair Sindhi, General Secretary Amar Azadi, Party Spokesperson Mansoor Ahmed Hubb, Central Joint Secretary Farhan Sindhi, Finance Secretary Hafeez Deshi, Media Secretary Mark Sindhu, Liaison Secretary Hosho Sindhi, and international chapter coordinators Osama Somro (UK), Ali Sindhi Nonari (Germany) and Abdul Sattar Bhatti (Netherlands) — said Sindh’s cultural identity and heritage stretch back over seven thousand years.
The statement noted Sindh’s long resistance to foreign domination and cited a legacy of sacrifice from Raja Dahir through figures such as Hosho Sheedi, Makhdoom Bilawal, Saeen G.M. Syed, Sooreh Badshah, Shaheed Bashir Khan, Shaheed Shafi Karnani, Shaheed Muzaffar Bhutto, Shaheed Sarai, Qurban Khahawar and Shaheed Sajan Malookani. It said Sindh has weathered invasions by Muhammad bin Qasim, the Arghuns, Tarkhans, Mongols and the British but has never accepted permanent occupation, continuously fighting to preserve its identity, culture and dignity.
The leadership urged every Sindhi to protect their land, resources, language and national identity through political, democratic and peaceful means, saying millions had asserted their claim to ancient culture by raising the flag of freedom on Cultural Day.
JSFM Chairman Sohail Abro appealed to international bodies, the United Nations, global human rights organisations and the wider international community to pay serious attention to enforced disappearances, political oppression and human rights abuses in Sindh, and to offer moral support to the Sindhi people’s peaceful, democratic efforts.
