New Delhi [India], April 23 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said the 4th India-Africa Forum Summit, scheduled May 28–31, will define a forward-looking partnership as he joined African ambassadors to launch the summit’s logo, theme and website.
In a post on X, Jaishankar wrote that the forthcoming summit “will shape the next phase of our partnership — one that is more ambitious, more inclusive, and more future-oriented,” and said it will allow exchange of best practices, sharing of successful experiences and discussion of common challenges.
He highlighted India’s “wide-ranging development partnership and capacity-building initiatives, driven by African priorities and local ownership,” and noted the relationship is widening into digital, fintech and innovation, “reshaping economies across the African continent.”
On sustainability, Jaishankar pointed to India’s cooperation with Africa through initiatives such as the International Solar Alliance, Global Biofuels Alliance, Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure and International Big Cat Alliance.
He reaffirmed India’s support for Africa’s global role, citing the African Union’s inclusion in the G20 during India’s 2023 presidency, and described India’s expanding diplomatic footprint on the continent as evidence of long-term commitment. India has opened 17 new missions in Africa recently, bringing its total missions there to 46, he said.
Recalling historical ties, Jaishankar invoked a “shared history of struggle, solidarity, resilience and aspirations” that shapes India-Africa relations. He noted the growth of bilateral engagement across key pillars and frequent high-level interactions, saying he has made more than 20 visits to African countries, with Ministers of State visiting even more.
“This is a season of renewal and of fresh beginnings,” Jaishankar said at the launch, calling the summit the next chapter in the enduring partnership between India and Africa. (ANI)
