Tehran, May 4 (ANI) — Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned that Washington’s room for maneuver in any confrontation with Iran is shrinking, accusing the United States of losing support from Russia, China and European governments. In a post on X, the IRGC framed the situation as an ultimatum and said, in part, that President Trump faces choosing between “the impossible operation or a bad deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” adding that “the decision-making space for America has been limited.”
The remarks came as European leaders and NATO partners signalled closer coordination with the United States. Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, speaking at a European Political Community summit in Armenia, told reporters that European countries have “gotten the message” from President Trump and are moving to ensure agreements on the use of military bases are being carried out, according to Al Jazeera.
Trump launched a new initiative earlier in the day called Project Freedom. U.S. outlets including The Wall Street Journal, CNN and Axios highlighted his language shift when describing the new naval mission in the Strait of Hormuz, noting he used the word “guide” rather than “escort” to describe how the operation will function.
Regional diplomacy was active: Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar spoke by phone with Iran’s Abbas Araghchi to review developments in the Middle East and outline Pakistan’s diplomatic steps, Al Arabiya reported.
In a separate development, the United States evacuated 22 crew members who had been aboard the Iranian-flagged container ship MV Touska and transferred them to Pakistan. The MV Touska was seized in the Gulf of Oman last month in an incident Tehran labelled an act of “piracy,” Al Jazeera reported.
