Tehran, February 28 (ANI): Iran says it launched a targeted missile strike against a United States military base in Bahrain.
The Iranian embassy in India said Saturday that a U.S. military base in Bahrain was struck by Iranian missiles and posted video showing plumes of smoke after the strike.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps condemned what it called the “Brutal Aggression of the Zionist Regime,” saying the attacks were a response to enemy aggression. The embassy published a statement: “In the Name of God, the Breaker of Tyrants. In response to the aggression of the hostile and criminal enemy against the Islamic Republic of Iran, the first wave of extensive missile and drone strikes by the Islamic Republic of Iran toward the occupied territories has commenced.”
The United Arab Emirates reportedly intercepted missiles launched by Iran, according to Khaleej Times.
In a significant escalation, Israel and the United States have launched a joint operation they say is intended to neutralize what they describe as an existential threat from Iran. The strike follows weeks of tense nuclear talks and growing military posturing in the region. The full scope and impact of the Iranian strike are still being assessed, but it marks a major retaliatory action in the ongoing confrontation.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked U.S. President Donald Trump for American support, calling his leadership “historic.” Netanyahu said Israel and the United States had begun an operation to remove the existential threat posed by Iran and urged the Iranian people—Persians, Kurds, Azeris, Balochis, and Ahwazis—to rise against the regime and seek a free, peaceful Iran.
On his Truth Social platform, Trump confirmed a military operation targeting Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure. The Israel Defense Forces earlier named the action OPERATION ROARING LION, saying its aim was to eliminate the threat to Israel.
Trump warned Iranian forces to lay down arms and surrender, offering immunity to those who do, and warned others would face “certain death” as the Middle East entered full-scale conflict following strikes by Israel and the United States across Iran. (ANI)
