Tehran, May 6 (ANI) — Iran on Wednesday rejected allegations from the United Arab Emirates that it had launched drone and missile strikes against the emirate, and urged Abu Dhabi not to cooperate with the United States and Israel.
In a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared by Iran’s Embassy in India on X, Tehran reiterated its commitment to the UN Charter, international law and the principle of good-neighbourliness. The ministry called on Abu Dhabi to refrain from continued collusion and cooperation with what it described as hostile parties (the United States and the Zionist regime) in actions that contravene international law against Iran.
The statement accused Emirati officials of departing from UN principles and good-neighbourly conduct, saying recent cooperation with the United States amid what Iran called unlawful and provocative U.S. actions and naval movements threatened Iranian national security and interests. Iran said it had shown “maximum restraint” and acted responsibly for the benefit of the region and the broader Islamic community.
The foreign ministry dismissed the UAE claims as unfounded, saying no missiles or drones were launched from Iran toward the UAE and that Iran’s defensive measures were aimed solely at countering U.S. aggression. It warned that Tehran would take any necessary and appropriate steps to defend its national interests and security.
The May 6 statement, circulated via social media by Iran’s diplomatic mission in India, followed a strong rebuke from the UAE foreign ministry accusing Iran of “renewed unprovoked aggression” involving drones and missiles and alleging recent strikes on Fujairah, a strategic energy hub on the emirate’s eastern coast. Iran has consistently denied carrying out such operations. Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB quoted a spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters saying the armed forces had not carried out the attacks and again urging the UAE not to align with external powers.
