Chattogram, Bangladesh — May 9, 2026: Commander Siddharth Chaudhary, Commanding Officer of INS Sunayna, met with Commodore Ahamed Amin Abdullah BSP, PSC, the Officiating Chairman of the Chattogram Port Authority, during the ship’s two-day port visit as part of the Indian Ocean Ship (IOS) Sagar deployment.
According to the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh, Commander Chaudhary expressed gratitude on behalf of himself and the Indian Navy for the assistance and hospitality provided by Chattogram Port. The two officers held a constructive discussion on matters of mutual interest, including areas for enhanced cooperation.
During his visit, Commander Chaudhary paid respects at the Chattogram Commonwealth War Cemetery, laying a wreath in memory of the soldiers of undivided India and other Commonwealth forces who sacrificed their lives during the Second World War.
The visit included a reception hosted by the Commander, Chattogram Naval Area (COMCHIT). The evening featured cultural and musical performances by personnel of the Bangladesh Navy alongside members of INS Sunayna, reinforcing ties between the two navies.
Earlier in the port call, the commanding officer met senior naval dignitaries in the Chattogram Naval Area — including COMCHIT, COMBAN and the Assistant Superintendent of Docks (ASD) — to thank them for hosting the ship and to discuss shared professional interests. Conversations focused on strengthening collaboration through joint exercises, training exchanges and other maritime engagements.
