Abu Dhabi [UAE], March 27 (ANI): The Indian Embassy in the UAE expressed its deepest condolences over the death of an Indian national after falling debris struck Abu Dhabi on Thursday. The Embassy said it is closely coordinating with UAE authorities to provide all possible support and assistance.
In a post on X, the Embassy said, “Embassy of India expresses its deepest condolences at the tragic demise of an Indian national due to falling debris in Abu Dhabi today. The Embassy is closely coordinating with the UAE authorities to render all possible support and assistance.”
The Indian national was one of two people who died after debris fell following the interception of a ballistic missile over Abu Dhabi. The Abu Dhabi Media Office said the fatalities — of Pakistani and Indian nationals — and injuries to three others occurred “as part of the ongoing follow-up to the previously reported incident caused by falling debris following the successful interception of a ballistic missile by air defence systems.”
The office added that three people of Emirati, Jordanian and Indian nationality sustained injuries ranging from serious to moderate, and urged the public to rely only on official sources and avoid spreading rumours or unverified information.
The lethal consequences became clear when debris struck a busy thoroughfare on Sweihan Street after air-defence systems neutralised the incoming threat. While the primary missile was intercepted, fragments rained down over a populated area, causing deaths, injuries and damage to several vehicles. Emergency services were deployed immediately to assist victims and manage the wreckage. (ANI)
