Funafuti, Tuvalu — April 25: India’s Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, met Hamoa Holona, Tuvalu’s Minister of Education and Acting Minister of Health, to explore ways to deepen cooperation in education and health services. The discussion focused on expanding bilateral support for human capital development and improving health-sector collaboration.
Earlier in the day, Margherita held trade and development talks with Paulson Panapa, Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Labour and Trade. He reiterated India’s commitment to Tuvalu’s development, highlighting the two countries’ strong partnership built on shared values and mutual commitment. The talks covered enhancing development cooperation, with emphasis on health initiatives and climate-resilient infrastructure.
Margherita also called on His Excellency Reverend Sir Tofiga Vaevalu Falani, GCMG, Governor‑General of Tuvalu. The meeting was described as warm and productive, with both sides discussing opportunities to broaden collaboration across priority sectors.
In addition, Margherita exchanged views with Hon. Dr. Maina Vakafua Talia, Tuvalu’s Minister for Home, Climate Change and Environment, on strengthening climate resilience, disaster preparedness, sustainable development, and capacity building efforts.
Margherita’s visit to Tuvalu is a two‑day trip during which he will hold bilateral meetings with the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister and other senior officials, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said.
