Tel Aviv, March 27 (ANI): The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) said on Friday it struck a central Iranian facility in Yazd used to produce naval missiles and sea mines. The operation, the IDF stated, was guided by military intelligence and its Navy intelligence flotilla. Iran has not yet confirmed the report.
According to the IDF, the Yazd site was involved in planning, developing, assembling and storing advanced missiles intended to be launched from cruise vessels, submarines and helicopters at both mobile and fixed maritime targets. The force described the location as where most naval missiles and mines are developed by the Iranian Navy’s forces.
The IDF said the strike complements previous actions targeting the Revolutionary Guards’ naval command and deals a severe blow to the naval forces’ production capabilities. “The IDF continues to deepen the damage to the regime’s military industries in order to deny the production capabilities it has built over years,” the force added.
In separate posts on X, the IDF said overnight strikes also hit sites across Tehran tied to ballistic missile production and air-defence systems. It said Air Force strikes in western Iran, directed by Military Intelligence, targeted launchers and missile storage sites that it said posed a threat to Israel.
Regional reports meanwhile said explosions were heard in Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar. Al Jazeera Breaking cited port authorities saying Kuwait’s Shuwaikh Port was attacked by drones.
The developments come as the US-Israel and Iran confrontation enters its fourth week. The Jerusalem Post, citing the Wall Street Journal, reported the United States is considering sending an additional 10,000 ground troops to West Asia despite ongoing talks with Iran. Earlier, US President Trump said Iran had sought a seven-day pause on strikes targeting its energy infrastructure and he extended that window to 10 days, until April 6, though US-Israel strikes have continued.
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said in the early hours of Friday it launched the 83rd wave of Operation True Promise 4, attacking key American and Israeli military sites in the region with advanced missiles and drones. (ANI)
