Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has proposed naming a primary road in Hyderabad running alongside the US Consulate General as “Donald Trump Avenue” to draw global attention ahead of the Telangana Rising Global Summit. The initiative forms part of a broader plan to honour prominent global businesses and business leaders: proposals include “Google Street”, “Microsoft Road” and “Wipro Junction”. A 100-metre stretch of the Greenfield Radial Road is slated to be named after Padma Bhushan Ratan Tata, and the Raviryala interchange has already been designated the “Tata Interchange”.
Reddy said naming roads after influential individuals and corporations both pays tribute and aims to inspire commuters while enhancing Hyderabad’s international profile. The Telangana Rising Global Summit, scheduled for December 8-9, seeks to position the state as a hub for innovation-driven development and to attract global investment and partnerships.
Union Minister and BJP leader Bandi Sanjay Kumar criticised the proposal on X, suggesting the state should instead revert to the historical name “Bhagyanagar” and accusing the Congress government of renaming places after “whoever trends”.
