Riyadh, March 8 (ANI): The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has denounced recent Iranian strikes on Bahrain and Kuwait as “dangerous acts of aggression” that threaten regional security and stability.
In a statement on the GCC website, Secretary General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi strongly condemned what he described as a nefarious Iranian attack targeting Gulf territories. He said the strikes reveal Tehran’s “escalatory approach” amid the wider regional conflict and stressed that deliberately hitting civilian infrastructure is a “flagrant and unacceptable violation of all international norms and charters.”
Albudaiwi reaffirmed the council’s unity and support for affected member states, saying the GCC stands with Bahrain and Kuwait in protecting their security, sovereignty and vital facilities.
The condemnation follows an announcement by Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) that it has launched the 27th phase of “Operation True Promise 4,” aimed at American and Israeli positions. Iranian state broadcaster Press TV reported the IRGC described the campaign as retaliation for a new wave of “unprovoked US-Israeli aggression towards the Islamic Republic.”
The IRGC said the latest phase involved integrated drone and missile strikes, including missile counter-offensives against Israeli military infrastructure in northern occupied areas. The Corps claimed its Aerospace Division used newly developed solid-fuel Kheibar-Shekan missiles with terminal guidance to strike targets in Haifa.
Press TV also reported unmanned aerial systems were used to hit a site housing American personnel in “Marina,” near buildings identified as belonging to Warner Brothers. Simultaneously, the IRGC Navy reportedly struck facilities it linked to the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, including the command centre for unmanned surface vessels and military support hangars at Salman Port, which it labeled as belonging to “American terrorist forces.”
The IRGC further alleged Israeli authorities were trying to use residents as a human shield by confining civilians to northern and central areas of the occupied territories. It said ongoing retaliatory strikes have produced continuous emergency sirens across the region and that its forces are prepared for prolonged escalation, warning they are “lying in wait for American forces with precision and planning.”
Operation True Promise 4 began after foreign strikes last Saturday, and the IRGC has claimed to have launched hundreds of ballistic missiles and suicide drones at strategic targets, including Tel Aviv, the occupied city of al-Quds, and Be’er Sheva. Iranian statements have also asserted successful engagements against the US aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln and a destroyer in the Indian Ocean.
