Quetta [Pakistan], December 13 (ANI): Families of underage students missing in Balochistan’s Quetta have called on authorities to locate their children, amid reports of new military operations and arrests in the coastal town of Jiwani, The Balochistan Post (TBP) reported.
At a press conference at the Quetta Press Club, Samrosh Baloch said Pakistani security forces detained several young students in raids months ago and their current whereabouts remain unknown. “For years, we have endured raids without warning. Young boys are taken, remain missing for months, and are sometimes released without any explanation,” she said, according to TBP.
Families said the missing minors include Hairbiyar Baloch, Afzal Baloch, Beebarg Qambrani, Noor Muhammad, and Hammal Qambrani, who were taken during October raids. None have been produced in court or formally charged. Samrosh added that members of her family have been detained at times and later freed. She also reported further searches in her area on the night of December 6, during which homes were raided for several hours but no illegal items were found.
Separately, TBP sources said Pakistani forces conducted operations in Jiwani tehsil of Gwadar district, searching homes in Sadiq Bazaar, Kaldaan, and Gapt. More than seven men were taken to undisclosed locations; three were identified as Tufail, Jamshaid, and Zohaib, and two labourers were detained from the Kuntani area. These actions occur amid reports of rising enforced disappearances across Balochistan.
Earlier on Thursday, military operations were also reported in the Gresha and Ornach areas of Khuzdar, with several young men allegedly apprehended and taken to unknown locations, TBP noted. (ANI)
