Balochistan [Pakistan], April 5 (ANI) — Reports of enforced disappearances and subsequent releases across several districts of Balochistan have renewed concerns about human rights in the province, The Balochistan Post said.
In Panjgur’s Parom area, at least four men were reportedly taken into custody in mid‑March. Three of those—Mohsin, Yahya and Abdul Ahad—were allegedly detained at the Jirek crossing on March 16. Separately, Karim, a Zamyad truck driver from the same region, was reportedly picked up from Turbat’s Josak area on April 2; sources say he had previously been subjected to an enforced disappearance.
There have also been multiple reported releases after varying periods of absence. Faheem Sumalani, who went missing earlier in March, was released in Quetta later that month. Hayat Bibi, from Awaran and reportedly detained in February, was freed in Khuzdar. Nizam of Gwadar, who had been missing since December 2025, returned home. Two men from Khuzdar, Yasir Ahmed and Naveed Ahmed, who disappeared in 2023, were released in Quetta. Additionally, four people from Surab allegedly detained on March 28 were released days later along the RCD Highway, The Balochistan Post reported.
Families of the missing have staged protests and appealed for the safe return of their relatives. Human rights campaigners have urged authorities to stop enforced disappearances, ensure accountability and produce detainees before the courts.
