Balochistan [Pakistan], April 23 (ANI): A female student of Bolan Medical College was allegedly forcibly disappeared after being taken into custody during a late-night raid on the girls’ hostel, triggering protests and condemnation, The Balochistan Post reported.
The student, identified as Khadija Baloch, a seventh-semester BS Nursing student from Hirronk in Kech district, was allegedly detained in the operation and moved to an undisclosed location. Fellow students said no official information has been provided about her whereabouts, causing serious concern across the college.
Students alleged that personnel from Pakistan’s Frontier Corps, Military Intelligence and the Counter Terrorism Department took part in the raid. Authorities have not issued a formal statement explaining the circumstances of the detention.
In response, students staged a sit-in outside the college demanding Khadija’s immediate and safe return, and accused authorities of targeting Baloch students based on identity. A heavy police presence was later deployed at the protest site, raising fears of a possible crackdown.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) said Khadija was taken from her hostel and transferred to an unknown location without informing her family, calling the incident part of a wider pattern: “This is not an exception. This is policy.”
The Baloch Women Forum (BWF) described the case as a grave human rights violation, warning that educational institutions are becoming unsafe for Baloch women, and expressed solidarity with the protesters while demanding Khadija’s release.
PAANK, the human rights wing of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), said the case fits an ongoing pattern of enforced disappearances in Balochistan and urged authorities to disclose her location. BNM chairperson Naseem Baloch appealed to the international community to intervene, describing the situation as systematic “collective punishment.”
The incident comes amid a reported rise in disappearances in the region, including the recent case of Haseena Baloch, who remains missing after detention earlier this month, The Balochistan Post reported. (ANI)
