China launched a Pakistani satellite from its Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre in Shanxi Province late Saturday.
The satellite, named PRSC-EO3, lifted off at 8.15 pm Beijing Time aboard a Long March-6 carrier rocket and successfully entered its planned orbit, state-run Xinhua reported.
This is the fourth Pakistani satellite China has launched since last year; Beijing put three Pakistani satellites into orbit in the previous year.
The launches reflect China’s growing cooperation with Pakistan, extending their all-weather partnership into space.
Separately, two Pakistanis selected for astronaut training in China arrived on April 24 to join training at the Astronaut Centre of China in Beijing, the China Manned Space Agency said.
After completing required training and passing assessments, one of the two will take part in a space mission as a payload specialist, becoming the first foreign astronaut to board China’s Tiangong space station.
