Balochistan [Pakistan], March 25 (ANI): The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) said Friday that its fighters carried out road blockades and seized checkpoints on highways in Mastung, Barkhan and Kalat districts, The Balochistan Post (TBP) reported.
BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch said that on March 19 fighters blocked the Quetta-Taftan highway at Sheikh Wasil in Mastung, stopping traffic until late while conducting what he described as “strict snap checking,” TBP reported.
He said a Levies checkpoint there was captured, personnel were detained and the post was set on fire. Those detained were later released after being warned to “avoid acting as instruments of the occupying forces.” In a separate action on March 18, the group established checkpoints at several sites, including between Barkhan and Rakhni and on Shahrah-e-Bodhi Eishani in Kohlu, where the blockade lasted about three hours, he added.
According to Major Gwahram Baloch, two vehicles from the convoy of Barkhan Police Superintendent Saad Afridi arrived at a checkpoint and tried to pass despite signals to stop; warning shots were fired at them. He warned police against breaching such blockades and said one police official detained during the operation was later released on “humanitarian grounds.”
The spokesperson also said fighters blocked traffic on the RCD highway in the Sang Das area of Kalat the same day, inspecting vehicles and barring any military convoy or informant from passing. He said fighters engaged with civilians during the blockade to explain the “objectives of the armed struggle.”
The statement claimed these actions demonstrated the group’s “presence across key highways and strategic routes” and its “capacity to control major roads” despite security measures, TBP reported. (ANI)
