Balochistan [Pakistan] April 6 (ANI): “Pro-independence” armed groups in Balochistan have claimed responsibility for separate attacks in the Naseerabad and Kachhi districts, according to statements cited by The Balochistan Post (TBP).
Dostain Baloch, spokesperson for the Baloch Republican Guards (BRG), said the group struck machinery allegedly linked to Pakistani security forces in the Dera Murad Jamali area of Naseerabad. He claimed explosive devices were placed on the equipment near Rabi, destroying it. The spokesperson alleged the machinery was part of military-associated commercial operations tied to agricultural resources in Balochistan, and warned similar projects and their personnel would be targeted unless they disengage.
In a separate statement, the United Baloch Army (UBA) took responsibility for an armed attack in the Sanni area of Kachhi district on April 4. UBA spokesperson Mazar Baloch said fighters exchanged fire with individuals he described as members of a state-supported armed group. He said two people were killed and their weapons seized, alleging both had long-standing links with intelligence-affiliated armed groups, shared information on Baloch fighters and took part in detentions. He added that the men had been previously warned.
Both groups cautioned others they accused of cooperating with state institutions to cease such activities.
Human rights organisations have long warned about enforced disappearances in Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan, saying the lack of accountability and official response has heightened fear and eroded trust among affected communities, TBP reported. (ANI)
