New Delhi — May 1, 2026
Air India on Friday inaugurated nonstop service between Delhi and Hanoi, its first direct link to Vietnam’s capital and the carrier’s second Vietnamese gateway after Ho Chi Minh City. The new route, operating five times a week, expands Air India’s Southeast Asian network to eight destinations and targets growing leisure and business travel between the two countries.
Flight AI2390 departed Indira Gandhi International Airport at 01:20 IST and landed at Noi Bai International Airport at 07:20 local time, where the arrival was greeted by Indian Embassy officials, airport representatives and airline staff. The return flight, AI2391, leaves Hanoi at 08:20 and arrives in Delhi at 11:35 IST. Services run on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
The route is operated with an Airbus A320neo configured with three cabins—Business, Premium Economy and Economy—designed to serve both corporate and leisure travellers. The Delhi–Hanoi connection complements Air India’s existing daily service to Ho Chi Minh City and enables flexible multi-city and open-jaw itineraries (for example, flying into Hanoi and returning from Ho Chi Minh City), which is expected to stimulate tourism and business links.
Air India also notes the route improves connectivity from Europe, allowing passengers from the UK and other European markets to connect through Delhi en route to Vietnam, reinforcing Delhi’s role as an eastbound transit hub.
Nipun Aggarwal, Air India’s Chief Commercial Officer, said Vietnam represents a high‑potential market driven by strong tourism demand, expanding business ties and interest in multi-destination holidays. He added that adding Hanoi alongside Ho Chi Minh City strengthens the airline’s network and gives travellers more options between India, Vietnam and Europe.
