Balochistan, Pakistan — May 9 (ANI): Fauzia Baloch, a member of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), has accused Pakistani security agencies of trying to force her out of the organisation by linking her political activity to the disappearance of her brother, The Balochistan Post reported.
Speaking at a press conference with her mother in Karachi, Fauzia said her brother, Dad Shashani Baloch, was taken during a late-night raid on April 21, 2026. She described attackers as nearly two dozen armed men in plain clothes who arrived in police vehicles and private cars, stormed the home and detained him forcibly.
Fauzia alleged involvement by personnel connected to the Counter Terrorism Department and intelligence agencies. She said the family was blocked from recording the incident and threatened when they tried to document the raid. According to her account, officials did not present an arrest warrant or explain legal grounds for the detention.
The family also says local police impeded efforts to lodge a formal complaint. Fauzia recounted being told to wait 24 hours before reporting the disappearance, and that a subsequent report filed at the Maripur police station was not registered. She said police advised them to report the case as an abduction by “unknown persons,” despite the presence of clearly identifiable official vehicles and uniformed officers.
Fauzia added that her brother had previously been subjected to enforced disappearance and torture, and that the family has faced repeated intimidation because of her BYC involvement. She alleged that Karachi police disrupted a planned press briefing at the Karachi Press Club and detained several relatives, including her mother, as they returned home.
Intermediaries, she said, suggested her brother might be released if she resigned from the BYC. Pakistani authorities have not publicly commented on these new allegations; officials have in the past denied involvement in unlawful detentions.
Human rights organizations have long raised concerns about enforced disappearances and the targeting of Baloch activists in Pakistan. This report is based on a syndicated feed from ANI and coverage by The Balochistan Post.
