New Delhi — On the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, Nepal reiterated its firm opposition to terrorism and expressed solidarity with India following the deadly Pahalgam attack of April 22, 2025.
Nepal’s Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal conveyed a strong condemnation of the “barbaric” attack in a message read at a commemoration organized by the Embassy of India in Kathmandu. The memorial marked one year since Indian security forces launched Operation Sindoor in the aftermath of the strike that killed 26 people, including one Nepali national.
The event was attended by members of the Indian diaspora, representatives of the Nepal-India Friendship Association and officials from the Indian mission in Nepal. Participants observed a solemn remembrance for the civilians who lost their lives and paid tribute to the victims.
Khanal’s message emphasized Kathmandu’s solidarity with New Delhi and underscored the shared determination of the two neighbors to confront terrorism cooperatively. The gathering highlighted the close bilateral ties and the mutual commitment to safeguarding regional peace and stability.
Organizers and attendees described the ceremony as both a tribute to the victims and a reaffirmation of cross-border cooperation against violent extremism. The embassy’s commemoration served as a reminder of the human cost of terrorism and the importance of continued collaboration between India and Nepal on security and intelligence efforts.
As the two countries marked the anniversary, officials reiterated the need to work together to prevent future attacks and to reinforce the bonds that sustain regional security and diplomatic partnership.
