Nairobi [Kenya], May 3 (ANI/WAM): Flash floods caused by heavy rains across Kenya have claimed at least 10 lives this week, police confirmed.
The National Police Service said most deaths occurred in the eastern region, where flooding has led to road closures, widespread property damage and mass displacements.
“So far, a total of ten people have sadly lost their lives, with the highest number – seven fatalities – reported in the eastern region,” the police said in a statement issued in Nairobi.
The police said destruction of two critical bridges has severely disrupted transport and movement of goods in the Coastal and eastern regions.
Authorities urged people, particularly those in high-risk and affected areas, to stay vigilant, avoid flooded zones and follow local advisories.
At least 112 people were killed by floods in Kenya in March as the country continues to feel the effects of climate change. (ANI/WAM)
