Tehran, May 1 (ANI) — Ayatollah Mohsen Qomi, a member of the Assembly of Experts and deputy for international affairs in the office of Iran’s Supreme Leader, rejected U.S. suggestions about Mojtaba Khamenei’s condition and said the leader’s son is healthy, Fars News Agency reported.
Qomi described questions about Mojtaba’s health as a tactic by Western actors to stir rumors and provoke reactions. He said critics have pressed why Mojtaba has not appeared in audio or video messages or why visitors have not spoken publicly, arguing such queries are meant to force a response and serve adversaries’ aims.
While acknowledging Mojtaba was injured in the February attack, Qomi said protecting his life is a priority. He said Mojtaba was inside the building that was struck but moved to the courtyard minutes before the blast and was saved. According to Qomi, Mojtaba is now in good health, actively overseeing operations and negotiations, and has issued directives to negotiating teams under varying scenarios, retaining full command of relevant matters.
Earlier, on April 28, Mohammad Hossein Ziyaeenia, the Supreme Leader’s deputy representative in India, told reporters that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was “in a good situation and fine” based on recent communications. The New York Times has reported that Mojtaba largely stayed out of public view after the Feb. 28 airstrikes on the Supreme Leader’s compound, which killed members of his family, and that access to him has been tightly restricted, with mainly medical personnel attending him during his recovery.
