Air India on Friday began non-stop flights between Delhi and Hanoi, marking its first service to Hanoi and strengthening air links between India and Vietnam. The five-times-weekly route makes Hanoi Air India’s second gateway in Vietnam after Ho Chi Minh City and its eighth Southeast Asian destination as the carrier expands high-growth international routes.
Flight AI2390 left Delhi at 01:20 IST and landed at Noi Bai International Airport at 07:20 local time, where it was welcomed by Indian Embassy officials, airport authorities and airline representatives. The return service, AI2391, departs Hanoi at 08:20 and arrives in Delhi at 11:35, operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
The Delhi–Hanoi non-stop complements Air India’s daily Ho Chi Minh City service, offering greater flexibility and enabling multi-city itineraries—such as flying into Hanoi and returning from Ho Chi Minh City, or vice versa—expected to boost tourism, business travel and open-jaw travel between the two countries.
The route is operated with Air India’s Airbus A320neo, featuring three classes: Business, Premium Economy and Economy, aimed at serving both leisure and corporate travellers amid rising demand for Southeast Asia travel from India.
The new link also enhances connections between Europe and Vietnam, allowing passengers from the UK and other European markets to transit via Delhi, further positioning India’s capital as an eastbound aviation hub.
Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer at Air India, said Vietnam is a high-potential market for Indian travellers driven by strong tourism, growing business ties and interest in multi-destination holidays. He added that adding Hanoi alongside Ho Chi Minh City deepens network presence, improves connectivity and creates more options between India, Vietnam and Europe.
