Indonesia, home to more than 270 million people, lies on the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” a roughly 40,000 km horseshoe-shaped zone around the Pacific Ocean known for frequent earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and tsunamis. The Ring of Fire contains about two-thirds of the world’s volcanoes and accounts for roughly 90% of Earth’s earthquakes. (ANI)
